At the time these farms were surveyed in the late 1800s, they formed part of the Kuruman Reserve. References to “Kuruman” in historical records may therefore denote the Reserve rather than the present-day town of Kuruman. Subsequent administrative and territorial changes resulted in these farms being re-demarcated into what is now the North West Province, while Kuruman continued as a separate town entity. Although this terminology and mapping are now outdated, they were accurate and appropriate at the time the baptisms were recorded.
