- After 1915, asbestos was mined on Warrandale by the Northern Asbestos Company, led by WH Addison (PHR Snyman, Danielskuil: Van Griekwa-buitepos tot dienssentrum, HSRC, p. 70). The traders Beadle and Barker opened a shop in 1916 to supply the asbestos workers. By 1927, DJ Visser began mining asbestos at Warrendale, selling their product to Dominion Blue Asbestos (Snyman 1988, p. 72). In 1934, Harry Bailey and Barry Burrows started the new Consolidated Blue Asbestos Corporation Ltd, which was active until 1958 It was then sold to the Cape Asbestos Company.
