- History
- The community appears to be an amalgamation of BaTlharo and BaTlhaping people. The first tribesman to come to Konong was Ou Petrus, the great-grandfather of the headman Keabetswha David Petrus in 1963 (PL Breutz, The Tribes of the Districts of Kuruman and Postmasburg, 1963, p. 215). In 1958, the apartheid governmetn moved the Tswana from Konong. Most families moved to the farm Thamoanche, located just north of Kuruman (near Mothibistad). The other families moved to Manyeding (south-east of Kuruman), Seoding (just north of Kuruman), and Gatlhose (a Reserve north-east of Postmasburg).
