- History
- This farm, close to Danielskuil, very likely belonged to William Beadle, an English-speaking trader in Danielskuil in the 1890s. He served as the first chair of the first Danielskuil Town Management Council, established in 1892 (PHR Snyman, Danielskuil: Van Griekwa-buitepos tot dienssentrum, HSRC, 1988, p. 39). Beadlespost saw action in the Anglo-Boer War: In December 1901, a skirmish between Boer rebels and the Duke of Edinburgh's Own Volunteer Rifles (DEOVR) led to the death of Corporal F Croft. The Boers captured a coloured horse handler, Andries van Rooi, and executed him (Snyman 1988, page 54).
