- Location: Seat of the Maluti-A-Phofung Local Municipality as well as the Thabo Mofutsanyana District Municipality in the Free State province. Was also the capital of the former homeland QwaQwa.
- Founded: Uncertain – in the 1870s the Orange Free State government settled South Sotho clans there after reaching a peace settlement with their leaders. ‘Phuthaditjhaba’ is Sesotho for ‘Meeting place of the tribes’.
- Name: Formerly named Witsieshoek.
- Economy: The inhabitants mostly commute to other towns for employment. Phuthaditjhaba serves as a gateway to the rest of the rural QwaQwa area. Home to the Mofumahadi Manapo Mopeli Regional Hospital.
