Subtraction is a mathematical operation that tells us the difference between two numbers. In other words, subtraction is the process of finding how many are left when some are taken away. Subtraction is the
opposite or inverse operation of addition.
The aggregate of two or more numbers, magnitudes, quantities, or particulars as determined by or as if by the mathematical process of addition: The sum of 6 and 8 is
14. A particular aggregate or total,
especially with reference to money: The expenses came to an enormous sum.
Summation is the addition of a sequence of numbers / the result is their sum or total. If numbers are added sequentially from left to right, any intermediate result is a partial sum, prefix sum, or running total of the summation.
Two Angles are Supplementary when they add up to 180 degrees. These two angles (140° and 40°) are Supplementary Angles, because they add up to 180°: Notice that together they make a straight angle. But the
angles don't have to be together.
The outside layer of an object. It has area but no thickness, it is a two-dimensional boundary that can be flat or curved.
Example: this sphere has a surface that looks smooth.
A function where every element in the codomain (the set of possible outputs) is mapped to by at least one element in the domain (the set of possible inputs).
A function f from a set X to a set Y is surjective, or a surjection, if for every element y in the codomain Y if there is at least one element x in the domain X of f such that f(x) = y. It is not required that x be
unique / the function f may map one or more elements of X to the same element of Y.
The tangent line (or simply tangent) to a plane curve at a given point is the straight line that "just touches" the curve at that point. Leibniz defined it as the line through a pair of infinitely close points on the curve.
A line that touches a curve at a point without
crossing over. Formally, it is a line which intersects a differentiable curve at a point where the slope of the curve equals the slope of the line.
In mathematics, the tangent space of a manifold facilitates the generalization of vectors from affine spaces to general manifolds, since in the latter case one cannot simply subtract two points to obtain a vector that gives the displacement of the
one point from the other.
A term is either a single number or variable, or the product of several numbers or variables. Terms are separated by a + or - sign in an overall expression. For example, in 3 + 4x + 5yzw. 3, 4x, and 5yzw are three separate terms.
The point in time at which something ends. The shipping of way freights is always attended with more proportionate expense and delay than at prominent and terminal points.
In trigonometry an angle is usually drawn in what is called the "standard position" as shown on the right. In this position, the vertex (B) of the angle is on the origin, with a fixed side lying at 3 o'clock along the
positive x axis.
The speed at which an object in free-fall and not in a vacuum cease to accelerate downwards because the force of gravity is equal and opposite to the drag force acting against it.
To change the relative position, order, or sequence of / cause to change places / interchange: to transpose the third and fourth letters of a word. To transfer or transport. Algebra. To bring (a term) from one side of an equation to the other, with corresponding change of sign.
